This pattern marks the debut of my new square-ended straight tie, for a sleeker, more svelte look. Designed for 56″ wide cotton sateen ($27), this pattern also works well on cotton silk (also $27), although at only 40″ wide, the cotton-silk will yield only 5 ties.
Basic sewing instructions are included right on the fabric; there is a detailed step-by-step tutorial here. This is a simple sewing project that even beginners can successfully complete in an afternoon.
You’ll need some hardware to make the bow-ties adjustable. These can be bought at your local sewing notions shop, or online. If you’ve purchased my fabric, I’ll even send you some for a few dollars—just contact me.
